Who is Narwello for?: Neurodivergent tweens and teens roughly 10–15 who want friends and do not have a reliable way in — with or without a formal diagnosis — and their parents. It was designed for one autistic twelve-year-old first, and everything in it is checked against whether it would work for that one child. The app itself says “you”: every lesson, quest and coach reply is written in the second person and assumes nothing about your child.
How is this different from an AI chatbot or an AI companion?: Three ways. It is a programme, not a chat: eight weeks of lessons and real-life quests, and the coach knows today’s lesson. It is transparent: the child knows a summary goes to the parent and that the parent can read the whole conversation. And it points outward: every quest sends the child towards a real person, and nothing is designed to keep them talking to Ellie longer. Compared with curricula sold to therapists, the difference is simpler — this is for the child herself, at home, in English or Russian, with no clinician or waitlist.
Is this therapy?: No. It is a practice app: short lessons and real-life exercises built on published social-skills material. It does not diagnose, treat or claim to treat anything, it has not been clinically validated, and it is not a substitute for a professional when one is needed.
Does my child need a diagnosis?: No. Nothing in the app asks for one, and no child-facing text uses clinical language. The word “autistic” appears only in the self-advocacy lessons, as an identity word, positively.
What does “live voice” actually mean?: It means the child talks and Ellie answers, with nothing held down and nothing pressed. The microphone opens when the conversation starts and stays open until the child ends it. The child can interrupt Ellie mid-sentence and Ellie stops. The only two controls on the screen are Mute and End.
What if my child does not want to talk out loud?: Then they never have to. The coach works fully in text, voice can be turned off entirely by the parent, and every quest that involves the coach works either way. Nothing in the programme requires a spoken word to Ellie.
Is my child’s voice recorded or stored?: No. Audio is streamed, transcribed as it arrives, and not kept. The text of the conversation is stored so that the daily summary can be written and so Ellie remembers what you were talking about.
Can I read my child’s conversations with the coach?: Yes. The daily email gives you a summary, and every summary links to the full text of the conversations in the parent area, behind your PIN. Your child is told this before the first conversation, in plain words, so there is nothing secret about it. Voice is never recorded; what you read is the text.
What happens if my child tells the coach something serious?: Ellie answers with warmth, gives one simple next step, and points the child at a real person — you first. You are emailed immediately, with a short excerpt, what Ellie said, and what to do next. The child is told this will happen before the first conversation.
Is there any way for my child to meet strangers in the app?: There is no way. Narwello has no other users, no chat between children, no friend requests, no public profile and no feed. The only character your child talks to is Ellie.
What if a quest is too much for my child today?: Every quest has a comfort-mode version — the same skill with far less exposure — and it earns the same points and keeps the streak the same way. Skipping is also allowed and is logged without comment. Ellie never treats either as a failure.
Which languages?: English and Russian, both complete, everywhere: interface, lessons, quests, the coach in text and in voice, and the parent emails. Your child’s language and the language your email arrives in are separate settings.
Which devices?: Android first, with iOS built from the same code. There is no web version of the child app planned.
What will it cost?: Not decided. Speech recognition, the voice and the model are per-use costs, so there will be a real price rather than an ad-supported free tier — there will be no advertising in an app used by children. Anything more specific right now would be a guess.
When can I get it?: Not yet. The curriculum, the specifications and the design system are finished; the backend foundations are running; the app itself is being built. There is no release date to give and we would rather say so than invent one. Join the waitlist and you will get one email when there is something real.
What happens after the eight weeks?: The programme hands over to the Pod: one small task a day chosen by the child, the same streak, one free day a week, and the same coach. The child can also run the eight weeks again — the skills get easier with repetition and the points carry over.
Who is building this?: One parent, who read Carnegie at the same age his daughter is now. Not a clinic and not a funded startup — which is the honest reason this site talks about a plan and a build in progress rather than a product you can download.
